I didn’t want to solely rely on auditions to exercise my craft. I realized a majority of co-star and commercial roles require an understanding of the craft on par with basic arithmetic. The meaty roles, the ones that demand a deep understanding of the human condition-that was akin to practicing algebra or calculus. So I sought a studio where I’m forced to solve those complicated actor problems. This is why I train at MC² Actors Studio. Still so much to learn. There are so many wonderful questions to explore and questions I don’t know to even ask, but I’ll tell you what, despite the frustration of all these things, I am still enjoying the journey. I’m a little intense when it comes to training & striving to get better within my performance practice. Thank God I found an actor’s studio that’s just as intense & yet somehow simultaneously graceful (I’m still working on that second part). Watching the other ensemble members perform & the insights from Mario A. Campanaro felt almost spiritual. I kept thinking to myself FINALLY this is the training l’ve been seeking. For the driven few, know there is a space for you! ‘The better you get, the harder it becomes because your standards are higher. At the same time, it’s also easier.’ I think I’ve become addicted to training. I would say sign up for class, but selfishly want to ensure a spot. Soo….DON’T invest in your craft!
