Embracing Change & Growth

Embracing Change & Growth
by Mario A. Campanaro
It is often said that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity. When we truly take a moment to contemplate this, it becomes clear that it is absolutely true. Who wants to live the same experience over and over? Staying in a set structure without the desire to grow or expand leads to stagnation, depriving us of the gifts of evolution that Life has in store for each of us.
As artists, co-creators, and human beings, it is in our very genetic makeup to crave growth and expansion. We are meant to contribute to the world through our chosen mediums, continuing the process of expansion for the greater good. However, when something new challenges our belief system and daily routine, defense mechanisms are triggered. Fear takes hold and convinces us that the familiar is somehow keeping us safe from the unpredictable tightrope of Life. But this is a false belief.
In reality, it is staying in the familiar that causes our own demise, as it deprives us of the growth that can only come from embracing the newness Life has to offer. We must be open to change. We must be willing to break the structures that bind us in order to experience a higher level of consciousness. Yet, growth and expansion cannot occur unless we are willing to sit with the discomfort that often accompanies change.
Whether we are aware of it or not, whether we like it or not, there is no escaping this process. By the very laws of nature, each and every moment requires a shift within us—physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. As we begin to consciously accept this, we can start the process of truly activating it in our daily lives. Along the way, many twists and turns will challenge our belief system, constantly adjusting it. Trust that everything has been set in place so that our souls can discover and experience the greatest possible evolution contracted for their journey.
As we dive deeper into dismantling stagnation, it can feel overwhelming because we are restructuring our lives from a colloquial essence to a place of acute awareness. This is the beginning of change, the healing, and the metamorphosis process. It may not always be experienced as “positive.” Often, it may have taken an accumulation of emotional and traumatic toxins to bring us to this state of stagnation. As these toxins are energetically released, a cleansing may take place, which might be uncomfortable, sometimes even painful, mirroring the cause of the stagnation.
We must not be surprised if we feel “locked” in our heads, “paralyzed” in our bodies, or experience uncomfortable emotional or physical pain. This is often the ego desperately trying to avoid change and hold onto its “safe identity” while the cleansing process occurs. Whatever it may be, trust in the light that exists within the process. Do not resist it.
The only thing holding us back from the gifts of the unknown is our fear of the unknown. Resistance is fear’s way of brainwashing us, and we have come too far to be at its mercy. When we are able to dissolve all useless fear and its resistance through conscious awareness, we can begin to seek refuge within. This allows the blocks that feel like prisons to dissolve, and we can finally experience the change we seek.
We grow. We expand. We share. And then we expand some more. There awaits not only personal and creative freedom but also a delicious sense of peace and well-being that can be enjoyed within daily life. This peace allows us to continue to share, grow, and expand, deepening our connection with ourselves and the world around us.
